Our Role

GEMA will provide hands-on support to members by:

  • sharing information
  • exchanging ideas
  • working together to improve skills and service delivery in government
  • networking to develop new business relations and opportunities
  • promotion and application of marketing and sales knowledge
  • arranging for guest speakers to attend association functions
  • organising forums on topics of interest

Why GEMA is needed

In a world of rapid change, arms of government are embracing new systems and technologies to deliver services more efficiently to clients.

Innovative marketing and sales techniques are essential to satisfy the expanding objectives set by government.

Considerable pressure is placed on the individuals who provide services, and on the government organisations which initiate the services, to deliver marketing programs that are both effective and cost-efficient.

This is the modern marketing challenge for all entities. It is a challenge being met by an organisation called the Government Entities Marketing Association (GEMA) established in 1993, which provides solutions and support relevant to the day-to-day operations of modem governments.

GEMA will assist individuals and organisations directly involved in the marketing of services in all three tiers of government.

How GEMA will support sponsors

GEMA's charter is to provide support to government entities through innovation in marketing and sales.

Its aims are to:

  • provide new business opportunities and improve customer service standards
  • provide educational assistance and support to marketing and sales people
  • support the role of marketing and sales within government organisations and achieve its acceptance as an integral part of modern business practice promote best practice
  • promote a better working relationship between all levels of government

How GEMA will assist individual members

Through the networking opportunities provided by the range of GEMA activities, members will be able to access information and ideas on:

  • art direction, design and printing
  • customer assistance programs
  • consumer affairs assistance
  • direct marketing
  • marketing strategy planning and development
  • marketing and sales
  • outsourcing
  • product development
  • procurement
  • public relations
  • sales promotion programs video production
  • writing

How GEMA will support service providers

GEMA can facilitate access to a wide range of specialised marketing and sales services. This will be achieved by:

  • distribution of data base register to all sponsors, members and service provider members
  • responding to membership enquiries for referral information
  • including in event functions and newsletters
